OSLO, NORWAY – A 54-year-old woman has died 12 days after receiving the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine. Monica Aafløy Hansen, a former journalist, got her shot on March 8th. She became very ill 9 days later on March 17th. She was transported to Oslo University Hospital on March 19th, where she died from blood clots. Health authorities are now investigating the connection between the vaccine and her sudden death.

Hansen had a severe headache on Friday, March 19th. The headache was even stronger when she woke up the next day. She then contacted the emergency room in Tønsberg who ordered an ambulance that transported her to Oslo University Hospital. She underwent emergency surgery, but her life could not be saved.
Monica Aafløy Hansen worked as a journalist for the weekly magazine Hjemmet and as a freelance journalist. She became a tour guide after her career in journalism. When the lockdowns started, it became difficult for her to make a living, so she took courses to become a health professional, and volunteered to work as a medical assistant. It was in this job where she eventually received the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.
Hansen leaves behind a mother and a brother.
