Boston Mayor Michelle Wu was heavily criticized during an Instagram Live video on Friday over the city’s COVID vaccine mandates and other restrictions. Wu, who is well-known for her use of social media, recently decided to keep COVID-19 measures in place despite other cities and states around the US loosening their restrictions.
Wu, who has only been in office for three months, started her Instagram Live with a smile, but it quickly faded as she was barraged with messages denouncing the city’s COVID restrictions.
One viewer commented:
“You are ruining our great city.”
Another person asked in a comment:
“Why do you hate kids? Teachers? Cops? Firemen?”
Copies of the video were shared on multiple social media platforms. However, it doesn’t appear that Wu has made the official video available on her social media accounts.
Wu’s press office did not immediately respond to requests for comment on Saturday.
