An Adelaide Crows football player was sent to hospital and diagnosed with pericarditis (heart inflammation) after receiving Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, reports Stephen Rowe today. The player, whose name was not released for privacy reasons, spent one day in hospital.

Pericarditis is a particularly serious problem for athletes since it damages and destroys the cells of one of the most important organs for competitive activity.

The incident comes less than a month after Adelaide Crows Women’s team player Deni Varnhagen was forced to end her career ended for refusing to take the COVID vaccine. Varnhagen, who also works as a nurse, joined hundreds of protesters last month slamming mandatory vaccination.

“No one should be at threat of losing their jobs if they don’t enter a medical experiment. The COVID-19 vaccine is in its trial phase. It’s only been provisionally approved.”

Varnhagen added at the time that she feared for herself and all the other nurses who didn’t want the vaccine and thus risked losing their jobs.

“We’re all terrified. We love working, we just want to be back working again, we shouldn’t be at threat of losing our jobs.

We work on the frontline, we see everything.”
