Dozens of protesters disrupted traffic outside Mayor de Blasio’s Brooklyn home on Tuesday night after he unveiled plans to impose a vaccine mandate on employees at all private businesses.
Protesters chanted ‘end segregation’ and ‘my body, my choice’ as they blocked traffic, which included a garbage truck, outside the New York City address.
The protesters disrupted traffic and expressed outrage over the new COVID-19 vaccine mandate. One man at the protest held a sign that read:
“Wake up New York. Hold the line.”
New York City Mayor de Blasio announced at a news conference Monday that the new vaccine mandate will apply to any place of business with more than one employee on-site, and there will be no opt-out option for testing for those who do not wish to be vaccinated.
It remains unclear how enforcement of these draconian measures will take place, as this is the first city-wide mandate anywhere in the US. It’s also not certain whether or not de Blasio’s successor Eric Adams, who takes over the role of Mayor on January 1st, 2022 will maintain this authoritarian policy.
